This role is designed to complement the technical skills that the innovation team already have, helping to shape ideas and solutions and facilitate the innovation process, ensuring that all business sponsors are consulted with and involved when necessary.

A product owner will own multiple projects and for each project ensure that the challenge is correctly understood and the desired output is agreed (POC / Trial / White Paper etc) and the brief for the technical teams written. Once the challenge is understood the PO will work with the technical teams to identify the best solution and break down the challenge into tasks. The PO will also be responsible for producing wireframes and designs if required and providing continuous feedback to the technical teams. The PO may be required to run brainstorm sessions both with internal and external people depending on the project.

This role will best suit an individual who thrives under pressure, is well organised, great at solving problems, and is a creative and lateral thinker. You will need to engage with stakeholders of various levels, both internal and external to Tesco and be passionate about new technologies and understanding the customer.

Key responsibilities will be as follows:-
- Understand the key customer, market and business challenges and be able to think creatively about how to solve them using technology.
- Keep abreast of advancements in technology and identify opportunities where we might be able to use it.
- Gain stakeholder buy in by being able to excite the business with new ideas / technology and demonstrate their value.
- Be responsible for ensuring each proof of concept / trial is delivered smoothly and with support from relevant stakeholders.
- To create the brief for each challenge / idea and work with the technical team to generate ideas for how to solve the challenge
- To provide regular updates to Head of Innovation and the business sponsor on progress
- Own the customer experience for the prototype
- Support the technical team in demonstrating progress / new ideas to the business
- To test and sign off the work
- Be a key part of the technical team to generate ideas and find solutions to problems
- Ensure all the relevant stakeholders are consulted and NWT formed when necessary
- Organise and facilitate brainstorm sessions as and when required
- Engage with external suppliers to identify opportunities for partnership
