Job Overview

The International Payments Product Owner is an important role required to help accelerate the expansion of Tesco.com beyond the UK. He or she will be responsible for analysing payment preferences outside the UK and will assist in defining the payment strategy for Tesco.com.

An effective International Payments Product Owner will help Tesco:
• Support the business need for payment options within new countries and business areas;
• Gather business requirements for target markets;
• Build business case supporting new payment developments;
• Work with the Online Fraud Product Manager to assess the impact of new payment projects on the existing fraud processes; and
• Provide handover documentation and on-going support to the Payment Operations Team.

Role & Responsibilities

1. Actively manage the international payment product backlog and ensure it is prioritised to bring maximum return to Tesco
• Able to apply commercial awareness to decisions to support priorities and engage stakeholders
• Inputs into and drives the product development process to include the evolution of epics and features into user stories with measurable acceptance criteria.
• Ensures clarity and lack of ambiguity in requirements
2. Analyses existing payment processes and systems to maintain compatibility
• Process maps existing Tesco in country solutions
• Impact assessment of any proposed payment solution on existing processes.
• Ensures stakeholder buy in for proposed changes.
3. Owns and manages the business goals of deliverables and ensures sprints deliver to these
• Drives delivery forwards and helps resolves risks and issues
4. Participates in daily scrums and planning processes
• Work alongside business and IT teams in UK and offshore, and where applicable in-country teams, to ensure effective delivery
• Take decisive or corrective actions as required
5. Manage stakeholders and communications outside the development teams
• Regular updates to project stakeholders in UK and internationally.
• Communicates risks and issues on a timely basis
6. Contribute to international payment strategy
• Develop a clear understanding of local payment preferences within each target market and the impact of these on IT, Fraud, Legal and Commercial.
• Design, develop and project manage the implementation of new systems and processes.
• Input into vendor selection process.
• Liaise with industry experts/forums
7. Assist with development of training material for new solutions.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will have a proven track-record of:

• More than three years experience in e-commerce payment processing, additional customer present payment experience would be beneficial.
• Understanding of international payments processing requirements beyond Visa/MasterCard – alternative payment methods.
• Experience of the online retail sector whether directly working for a retailer or by working with online retail clients
• Ability to analyse, improve, document and communicate complex business processes.
• Experience of defining business requirements within a payments processing environment.
• Experience of managing User Acceptance Testing to ensure business requirements are fulfilled.
• Project management, preferably in an Agile development environment, demonstrating strong communication and leadership skills
• Taking complete ownership of goals and having drive to ensure that these are delivered to tight deadlines
• Driving projects from inception to implementation, managing a wide range of project stakeholders
• Ability to approach obstacles in a positive manner and work with stakeholders to ensure decisions are reached which are best for the overall business
• Strong leadership skills to ensure team deliver objectives and maintain key stakeholders support
• Communicating concisely and coherently in all formats: oral, written and presentation form
