Grocery In-Store Marketing Executive – Grocery Planning

Role Description

Specifically you will be working as part of the Grocery Planning team, with responsibility for delivering day-to-day in-store marketing communication. You will work in a fast paced, changeable retail marketing environment and be comfortable working with colleagues on and offshore.

This role will best suit an individual who is incredibly organised, has a strong attention to detail, can work well independently as well as part of a team and can manage and prioritise multiple tasks and the requirements of numerous stakeholders. Most importantly the successful candidate needs to demonstrate a strong customer focus and commitment to putting their needs first.

There will be an opportunity for the right candidate to expand their responsibilities over time to include creative and planning, working to support the Grocery planning team in their wider objectives.

Candidate Profile

Key responsibilities/accountabilities

Reporting to Marketing Manager Stores & Local for Tesco.com/Grocery, marketing responsibilities will include:

In-store POS
• Writing clear and accurate creative briefs, which can translate into relevant and compelling
marketing materials
• Selecting and briefing appropriate creative agencies and printers for a particular project
• Working closely with Corporate Marketing , creative agency and grocery planners on look
and feel
• Calculating and advising on print volumes and print specifications
• Creating print and production briefs including matrix creation
• Working with printers and Mount Farm to gain efficiencies and manage costs
• Setting out clear timelines and booking printing and distribution
• Writing clear store communications and liaising with the Dotcom Store Communications team
• Managing POS budget, raising purchase orders, keeping a clear view of actual and budgeted
spend at all times
• Managing POS stocks at Mount Farm for on-going activity rollout programs and/or campaigns
• Monitoring compliance and looking for ways to improve

Grocery Bag Inserts
• Owning the year plan for Grocery inserts
• Managing and prioritizing bookings in line with grocery objectives and other key trading
activities to ensure that leaflets support business need and are relevant to grocery
customers
• Raising barcodes for leaflets and working with IT to have inserts added to the pick list in
order to meet compliance
• Production and creative management (if required) for grocery inserts

Click & Collect roll out programme
• Managing print and production of all in-store elements and managing logistics into store
• Maintaining stocks for existing stores
• Working with the Marketing Manager – Click & Collect to produce new materials where
necessary

National Promotions
• Working closely with the Grocery Commercial and Corporate Marketing teams to deliver all
national initiatives online
• Managing print and production of any dotcom specific elements
• Liaising with Dotcom Store Communications team to brief dotcom stores

Operating (Technical) skills, knowledge and experience required:
• Strong communication with the ability to influence multiple stakeholders
• Good attention to detail to ensure that all elements remain legal and accurate
• Strong project management skills with the ability to organise multiple projects at any one
time
• Ability to manage suppliers to ensure all requirements and deadlines met
• Ability to evaluate different creative solutions as appropriate to meet communication
objectives
• Understanding of creative, print and production processes and timings
• An understanding of financial reporting and the ability to manage budgets

Key Competencies/ Behaviours

Personal
• Good attention to detail with strong organizational skills
• Ability to organize and prioritize workload
• Proactive with drive and enthusiasm to make things better, simpler, cheaper.

Technical

• Ability to create and manage spreadsheets in Excel
• Good grasp of budgets and budgetary planning
• Ability to conduct simple analysis / reviews
• Awareness of grocery competitor landscape
• The ability to resolve day to day issues and develop simple solutions to overcome difficulties
and challenges. Investigating problems and queries resulting in timely fixes.

Key Skills/ Experience and Qualifications required

• 2:1 Degree
• Marketing experience with a strong customer focus is preferred
• Experience of working with creative agencies and printers is preferred
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills are essential
• Experience of in-store POS would be beneficial
