Rule Financial are recruiting! And as such are looking for Technical Test Engineers to join us on a perm/contract basis.

The  successful Technical Test Engineer will be required as part of a team responsible for upgrading the underlying operating system and database for a core banking application

The primary responsibilities will be to

• Design tests that provide the required coverage to verify all aspects of the upgrade from a functional and non-functional perspective

• Generate the utilities that will execute the tests and check results in such a way that the test suites are easily repeatable

• Generate and manage the required test data

You will have proven stakeholder management experience and be able to provide a risk-based view at any point in the project to enable decision-making on scope and approach for testing, and as input to Quality Gate readiness / risk assessments.

Your talents:

• Proven testing experience (planning, test case design, execution, defect management)

• Thorough knowledge of functional and non-functional testing using structured testing techniques

• Experience in performing technical testing roles that cover both batch testing and transactional testing

• Experience in the testing of both GUI and non-GUI systems with particular knowledge of interface/integration testing requirements

• Experience in building utilities that enable data generation; that support test execution and results capture

• Good experience of working with server side technologies and in particular: XML, UNIX, SQL, File Processing

• Knowledge and experience of using Perl

• Risk-based approach to developing test strategies for maximum value, and assessing impact and testing risk of software changes

• Strong client facing and communication skills (both verbal and written)

Desirable talents:

• Experience in working across a number of different system architectures (including n-tier and SOA) plus back end, front end and mainframe testing experience

• Knowledge and experience of Solaris and Oracle

• Domain knowledge – i.e. financial sector and Investment Banks in particular

• Experience in developing test automation frameworks

• Experience of working with and ideally testing Global One

• Ability to build test harnesses and test simulators

• Experience in the set up, maintenance and management of test environments
