Role Purpose
The Core IO team works with customers and delivery Partners to help define and deliver high impact solutions based on the Microsoft platform. Typically these projects are working with pre-release or recently released software, often delivering solutions of a type or scale that has no precedent. Working closely with the Microsoft Product Groups, Microsoft Support and Partners, you will have the opportunity to combine your technical skills, creativity and customer focus to deliver great solutions that ensure our customers get the best out of our technology.
Key Accountabilities
- Taking ownership of the delivery and deployment of strategic infrastructure platform solutions.
- Ensuring that the Microsoft elements of the platform solution are designed in line with current best practice and will deliver a scalable, secure and high availability platform which meets the known requirements.
- Conduct high and low level reviews of designs against known Microsoft common practice.
- Sharing Microsoft best practice, exploring requirements and increasing the knowledge of the customer team.
- Delivering awareness and guidance about the infrastructure platform and the interaction of applications with that platform as solutions are developed.

- Development, maintenance and sharing of relevant technical & industry expertise

Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Essential Experience
- BA/BSc degree or equivalent work experience.
- Proven consultancy skills preferably in large-scale customer environments.
Technical Depth
- Experience in systems development, network operations, software support, and consulting including enterprise architecture.
- Demonstrate understanding of how client platform integration (Windows, Office etc) can be used to solve business problems or add value to a customer’s business
- Design, planning and execution of Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 based desktop deployments and/or migrations from competitive desktops.
- Knowledge and/or experience in associated deployment technologies including experience in 3 or more of the following: System Center Configuration Manager 2007, SMS 2003, MDT, WDS, Windows AIK, SysPrep, application packaging, Scripting.
- Windows configuration, customization and management within domain and workgroup environments.
- Group Policy design and implementation, including testing, for desktop management, lockdown and customization.
- Troubleshooting of Windows deployments and configurations.
- Application compatibility testing and rectification of problems with legacy applications.
- Desktop security configuration.
- MCSE and MCSA or later.
- Knowledge / experience of Windows Vista and Windows 7 design and deployment (preferable)
