Role Purpose
As a Dedicated Support Engineer you will interact directly with our healthcare customers to support their installations of Amalga. Our healthcare customers are world class institutions using Amalga to deliver patient care, and they will rely on your expertise to help provide high-quality technical support. A key element of your role will be too have deep understanding of the customer’s environment, how they use Amalga and how we can best help them meet their needs. Each new team member will go through extensive training before initial customer interaction as this is a unique opportunity to shape the reputation of Microsoft as a best in class healthcare solutions provider. Team/Department Mission
The Amalga Health Solutions Group is a startup business group within Microsoft offering innovative software solutions for the healthcare industry. This position will be in Premier Field Engineering Incubation Services whom in partnership with HSG has developed a support services for Amalga.
Key Accountabilities
Technical Services - Act as the primary technical support resource requiring high conversational level technical expertise across all Microsoft products and specialized skills in the Health Solution technology. Analyze and determine most effective method of problem resolution by utilizing applicable internal resources.
- Work closely with customers to understand their issues and perform root cause analysis
- Support customers on database configuration activities for large scale healthcare systems implementations
- Assist customers with resolving issues with data views and reports
- Troubleshoot database issues that arise
- Help customers establish processes to manage and maintain systems post-deployment
- Troubleshoot server hardware and configuration for optimal system performance
- Provide input to the development team on product enhancements
Key Success Criteria
Technical Knowledge, qualifications and experience:
- Detailed working knowledge and hands-on experience with HL7 interface analysis and development (ADT, orders, results, billing, etc.)
- Demonstrable experience in the field of EDI, interfaces, healthcare information systems development and clinical data management
- Working knowledge of SQL database structures and queries
- Understanding of TCP/IP communications
- Strong problem solving skills
- Ability to evaluate and interpret end user information requirements, and to develop and implement appropriate technical solutions
- Scripting experience with C#, .Net languages preferred
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with both technical and non-technical audiences
