Description

McAfee is seeking a talented individual to join its software engineering team in Aylesbury. The team is responsible for the ongoing development of McAfee leading edge Gateway security product which is used throughout the world. The opportunity is to join this team working on a variety of exciting software development projects. The successful candidate will be a team player capable of working on the development of complex software systems through their full lifecycle.   The role will primarily involve backend C++ development on Linux systems working on new feature development, from requirements through to release.   Key Responsibilities 

• Working in a team setting, designing and coding new features as well as integrating and augmenting existing ones
• Documenting new features in coordination with the technical writing team
• Working closely with QA in order to allow extensive and exhaustive tests of the system

Experience

• Versatile and creative engineer with experience of Linux development
• Excellent C++ knowledge with recent commercial development experience using modern C++ development techniques and libraries
• Experience writing multi-threaded and high performance code
• Experience of networking, e-mail systems and associated protocols
• Development experience within a defined software development process
• Preferred: Knowledge/use of source control systems and defect tracking systems, Experience with shell programming, Perl and other scripting languages, Experience of a wide range of network products: Mail servers, clients, proxies and firewalls, Familiarity with make and Makefiles
