McAfee Labs QA team is looking for a highly technical self-starter who is passionate about ensuring testing activities and outputs are delivered to a high quality standard. The QA Environments Engineer will be required to operate, maintain and improve mission critical 24x7 test environments across multiple operating systems. The QA Environments Engineer will also be expected to provide technical input and strategic guidance to the testing function with varying levels of complexity and risk. The QA Environments Engineer should also understand related and interacting processes including release management, configuration, change, and defect management. Knowledge of current industry wide quality and test processes and practices, tools and techniques would be beneficial. Description:

Create and maintain a priority coverage matrix of test environments as specified by policies set by the DAT QA Manager and Senior QA Manager
Collaborate with global Infrastructure and Development teams
Ensure test scenarios and test scripts are delivered to the required standard
Promote and ensure the use of appropriate techniques, methodologies & tools
Ensure tests are planned, executed and any risks or issues are categorized, prioritized and escalated as required
Advise on the practicality of testing process alternatives
Identify improvements to the process and assist in their implementation
Ensure that reports are produced and records maintained for each test phase
Design and implement a process that is capable of maintaining of 1000's of images
Maintain a catalogue of up-to-date software releases and Updates as they become available from software vendors
Update/create new images in line with the coverage matrix
Identify and implement suitable environment management tools
Ensure support and availability of test environments is in place at all times (24x7) this may require some out of hours work
Apply Service Continuity best practices

Experience

Good understanding of TCP/IP Networks, security, PC architecture and operating systems
Excellent operational experience working in a product oriented software development context or bespoke project driven
Expert user of software image management tools
Excellent time management (daily release cycle)
Thorough understanding of the development lifecyle gained from exposure to preferably, agile, iterative or waterfall software development projects
Experience working on projects employing tiered test environments such as integration, system, UAT and staging.
Competent user of defect tracking and management packages, including the ability to write relevant reports
Strong engineering practices including coding standard adherence and a understanding of quality assurance
Performance monitoring of the test environments to ensure that SLAs are maintained
Strong organizational skills with project management capabilities ensuring successful project completion.
Preferred: Good solid knowledge of virtualization products and capabilities. Good competency with a Scripting language (Perl, Python). Good level of system administration know-how. Experience with database Queries and maintenance. Experience with InstallShield administration or, the ability able to package and create msi deliverables, ePO/consumer packages for Windows and installation packages for UNIX
