The role: SMS Strategic Negotiator (Asia Focus)
Google's infrastructure needs go far beyond server computers. As Google's products and services scale the globe, the Strategic Negotiation team works behind the scenes to secure infrastructure for Google's future -- everything from underwater cables to physical data center space. As a Strategic Negotiator, you combine your deep market knowledge of a given sector with tech industry savvy to negotiate cost-effective solutions to support Google's infrastructure growth. You'll work with specific project teams on negotiating deals, managing vendor and partner relationships and presenting deal recommendations to our Tech leadership. Your successful negotiations have the potential to save Google millions of dollars in operating costs and impact every part of the business.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with internal business, product, and networking technical teams to identify and define strategic initiatives necessary to meet Google's ongoing needs for both expansion and cost reduction.
- Build strategic relationships with vendors; identify unique opportunities for partnership or expansion with these teams; determine specific routes and deals that meet commercial, technical, and timing requirements.
- Identify, create strategy, negotiate and close contracts with vendors providing messaging, interconnection and roaming technologies using various origination and termination deal structures.
- Lead and close contract and price negotiations in tandem with Google's legal team.
- Communicate strategy internally and collaborate with key project teams and network deployment teams.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience negotiating interconnects or roaming agreements with Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) and SMS vendors globally with service level metrics to improve delivery quality and coverage.
- Experience with strategic negotiations, procurement or business development in obtaining services from global telecommunication providers in SMS/Voice interconnects, network transport, dark fibre, data center and bilateral agreements.
Preferred Qualifications:
- BA/BS in Technology or Science.
- Asia markets experience and strong MNO / aggregator relationships in this territory.
- Experience of decreasing messaging delivery costs with least cost routing tables.
- Knowledge of GSM/CDMA, SMPP, SMS hubbing, SMS gateway, mobile number portability, MMS, SS7, IPX, capacity planning, virtual numbers, short code and long code services.
- Strong analysis, financial, and problem solving skills, willingness to travel up to 50% of the time.
