Register as a job seeker
To get the most out of EmptyLemon, you should register as a jobseeker. This is a quick and simple process, which will enable you to start applying for the 100’s of jobs on EmptyLemon. Remember, we will never share your details with recruitment agencies – any applications made through EmptyLemon are delivered straight to the recruiting manager from that company.:
Profile
When you first register and sign in, you will be asked for some details and to upload your CV. This will enable you to apply for jobs and, if you wish, enable IT employers to search for your CV.
Next move
This section supports your CV and gives employers an idea about the type of position you are searching for, how much you wish to earn and what you expect from your next career move.
Using the job search tool
The EmptyLemon job search has been designed to make it as simple as possible for you to find the IT job you are looking for from the 100s of vacancies that we have on our site:
| Skills | Enter the keywords that match your experience, there is no need to combine your keywords with AND or OR: e.g. C# ASP.NET SQLSERVER. |
| Within | Enter where you would like to work and the distance that you are willing to commute. The location can be either a place name (e.g. London) or a postcode (EC1V). |
| Type | Select whether you are looking for a permanent or contract job. |
| From | Select how far back we should search job adverts for you, from a day to a month. |
Saved searches
When logged in, you can use this section to create saved searches, so that you can avoid having to complete the search fields every time you visit EmptyLemon.
Job search results
All jobs that match your job search criteria will be displayed, with the most relevant towards the top of the list. You can click on the IT company logo to view all of the vacancies listed by that employer, or use the ‘View Vacancy’ button to read more about that opportunity.
Applying for a Job
Applying for a job is as simple as entering a message to the employer in the text area and pressing the “Apply Now” button. Your CV and profile information will be sent directly to the hiring manager for the role.

Job Slots
Unlike many other Job Boards, EmptyLemon does not provide Job Adverts. We provide Job Slots. A Job Slot can be edited and re-advertised as many times as you like before its expiry date. So once you have filled one job, you can change your job slot to advertise another job without paying for another advert.
Editing a Job Slot
We have made creating and editing job adverts as simple as possible, but here is a quick guide:
| Visible in Search? | Do you want your advert to be visible to job seekers yet? If so tick the box. Leaving the box unchecked will keep you advert hidden until you are ready to post it. |
| Type of Position | Are you advertising a Permanent or Contract vacancy? |
| Location | Where is the job based? Feel free to use a place name or a postcode. This will be displayed on the advert and be used when job seekers are searching for jobs by location. |
| Job Title | What is the Job Title of the position you are advertising? Try to include as many keywords as possible. |
| Job Summary | A brief summary of the position you are advertising. This summary will appear on the job search results list used by job seekers. Use the summary to encourage job seekers to view your full job description. |
| Job Description | Enter your job description here. Although including company specific information is important, remember to empathise with the needs of job seekers. |
| Type of Salary/Rate | What is the salary type? Yearly, Hourly, Daily? |
| Salary Description | This is the salary information that will be displayed on your advert. You can enter salary information, e.g. £35,000, £35K, Excellent + Benefits. Including a specific salary will improve application numbers. |
| Salary or Rate From & Salary or Rate To |
What is the lower/higher end of the salary range for this job? Please enter numeric values only, e.g. 30000. This information with NOT be displayed on your job advert, this is used to allow jobseekers to filter their job search. |
| Benefits | Are there any added perks or benefits package on offer with this job? |
| Contact Details | It is possible to add further contact details if required. |
